MEET BRENDAN
Michiganders deserve a new generation of leadership ready to fight for them in Lansing — and I’m ready to step up.
I’m Brendan Johnson — a fourth-generation Michigander and lifelong Rochester area resident. I spent my early years climbing up the back of Dinosaur Hill and biking down the Paint Creek Trail. I studied at Michigan State University and Georgetown before serving as a political analyst abroad with the State Department, a national security analyst for Elissa Slotkin, and chief of staff for state Rep. Sam Steckloff up in Lansing. In 2022, I stepped up to run for Oakland County Commission to represent my hometown, and have made it my mission to give back to the community and the state that gave me the opportunity to become who I am today.
Now more than ever, our community needs a representative in Lansing dedicated to finding common ground, focused on lowering costs, and committed to making the Michigan Dream a reality for every resident. But for too long, politicians have ignored the real causes of the cost-of-living crisis — listening to wealthy donors and corporations instead of the hard-working families who made our state into the cradle of the American Dream in the first place.
Now, I’m running for state senate because Michiganders deserve a new generation of leadership that’s committed to delivering results for hard-working families and fixing our broken political system.
I’ve made my life here in Michigan because I know the possibility that this state provides for each of us — the possibility that allowed this son of a General Motors employee and a nurse to get to where I am today. I’m ready to fight hard in Lansing to bring the American Dream back to Michigan. To defend our manufacturing jobs and skilled trades from automation and cheap foreign imports. To raise wages and stop corporate price gouging at the grocery store, the gas pump, or in your monthly electric bill. To provide hardworking Michiganders with the chance to start a small business free of burdensome red tape. To build the quality, beautiful, and affordable housing that our communities deserve. And to ensure that every Michigander has top-quality health care that they can afford.
Now, I’m asking you to join me in this campaign to provide our neighbors the tools and opportunities they deserve to be able to build their own Michigan Dream.
I hope you’ll come along for the ride.
